Gender in the Pulses Value Chain in Pakistan
Research team
Research summary
Pulses are grown in the most marginalized of agricultural lands in Pakistan. Yet, they are the chief source of protein for rural families. Women carry out an innumerable amount of tasks in the growing, processing and marketing of pulses. This project will examine women’s labour contributions in the pulses value chain in Pakistan. Its findings will help to sensitize agricultural scientists to gender aspects of value chains and help to shape policies that support rural women’s roles and empower them.
