Kuntala Lahiri-Dutt convenes the gender specialisation in the Masters in Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development (MAAPD) course and also teaches courses on Exploring Gender and Development.

Professor Kuntala Lahiri-Dutt from the Crawford School of Public Policy delivered the 2024 Order of Australia Lecture at ANU, titled “A Possible World: Transforming Gender Relations for Sustainability.”

In her inspiring talk, Prof Lahiri-Dutt explored how reimagining gender relations can lead to a more sustainable and equitable future. Her talk emphasized the importance of reimagining societal norms to build a more equitable future, focusing on the intersections between gender and environmental sustainability. The lecture encouraged reflection on how gender equity plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges.

Professor Janine O’Flynn, Director of the Crawford School of Public Policy, delivered her opening remarks and Mr Andrew Michael Phelan AM, the Chair of the ACT Branch of the Order of Australia Association and former Chief Executive & Principal Registrar of the High Court of Australia, facilitated the audience Q&A session and delivered a vote of thanks.
